For Rachel Symons, Canada is a big change, because she is originally from Bermuda.
However, she has loved making their house feel like home with her husband and their two daughters, adding touches that enhance the home’s original character, updating finishes with their style and bringing in beautiful pieces that she has transformed from thrift stores across the way.
The kitchen underwent one of the biggest transformations, where Rachel and her husband exposed the brick wall and closed off part of the room to add an extra bathroom.
They also installed new countertops and cabinets, and this is one of Rachel’s favorite spots in their home — especially seeing the beautiful dishes she got from her mom, all lit up in the glass cabinets.
In the full video, Rachel shares lots of “before” photos so that you can see where they started and the progress that they have made on their cozy, family-focused home.
Rachel says that at some point they might close off this closet by adding doors in their master bedroom, but for now, this works.
If our closets all looked like this one, we might all do away with our doors!
In the backyard, they built the shed just this year and the pergola last year — and then they painted the playset, completely transforming it into a beautiful “second home” for their girls.
Rachel also shared a sneak peek of their attic, that one day they hope to transform into a playspace for their girls.
