Hi! I’m Monica.

I’m a mom of three! My husband and I recently moved back to Illinois after living in Texas the past five years. We’ve settled in the Northwest suburb of Arlington Heights and purchased our first home (a 1960’s colonial) that we are slowly renovating one day at a time.

As a designer, I believe that home is a sanctuary—a place of rest and peace for our families and loved ones. This belief is at the core of my work as a designer. Whether it’s a spot for prayer or reading, play or work, it’s an honor to help you create spaces that serve your family.

In my design projects, I love incorporating natural elements, wood tones, and layering textures to create that warm, cozy feeling that you find in that perfect mix of old and new.

What’s important to me is helping you create a beautiful space that’s within your budget. Whether you’re working with $100, $500, $1000 or $5000—I believe that it is always possible to achieve beauty whatever the budget, and I can help you prioritize the items that will help you achieve this goal.

A few of Monica’s favorite things:

Rooms to design: I most enjoy designing bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. Bedrooms because they’re our sanctuary at the end of a busy day. Living rooms, because they often serve two purposes: a place to come together to sit and talk as well as a spot to play games and sometimes host kids toys too. And, dining rooms, because it’s so important to gather around the table for mealtime whenever possible! An inviting space to share a meal can make such a difference in bringing family together.

Colors: I love incorporating creamy neutrals, accented by deep blues and/or sage greens.

Sources for inspiration: I’m most inspired by the architecture of the historic, turn of the century homes in the once-bustling midwestern town that I grew up in. The character and charm of these prominent old homes sparked my love for all things home.

Beyond that, Joanna Gaines has always been a source of inspiration for me—both as a designer and a mom. I love that she consistently prioritizes both beauty and function in the home. Additionally, I have really grown to love Julia Marcum’s style (from the blog Chris Loves Julia) — her use of rich colors, balanced by creamy whites and neutrals. And Jean Stoffer—because her kitchens are classic, timeless and simply amazing.
