A beautiful, historic-themed playground featuring imaginative, western-style play buildings.

Address: 600 Spinks Rd., Flower Mound, TX

Heritage Park and playground is tucked away amidst a wooded area in Flower Mound. It’s uniquely designed around historical, western-themed buildings. The play equipment made to look like you’re stepping back in time, which is so fun for the imagination!

The playground is called Fort Wildflower, and it has a wooden, clapboard-style look throughout – on pathways, stairs, and climbing structures. One of the larger features of this playground is its bright red, old fashioned schoolhouse. Kids can play inside and underneath this building, and slide out of the second floor. There’s also an wooden express train and other play buildings/storefronts: a jail, general store, and cottage house.

This is a large playground with lots of space for running, yet it’s almost entirely enclosed by a wall that runs along the outside perimeter. There is much for kids of all ages to explore here — rock climbing walls, a music station, various rope-climbing structures, monkey bars, swings and slides. The well-designed layout, with its winding paths, tunnels, and ramps encourages keep kids curious about what’s around the bend. The layout certainly entertains little ones for a long time.

The toddler area (called the “Tot Lot”) is separate from the bigger-kid area by a wall, yet this other side of the playground is still visible from the Tot Lot. This toddler section is really well designed. It’s one of the safest we’ve seen in DFW. Rubber ground covering is found throughout the playground, perfect for toddlers prone to tripping.

For the toddlers, there’s a variety of low climbing ramps and structures. Everything in this section was been designed well for this age group as there are very few places where they could fall. There are various play buildings, houses, and a teepee for them to explore. A horse ride-on toy, small slide, and baby swings are found in this area too.

One the other aspect that is nice about this park is the abundant nature that surrounds it. Walking paths through the woods and large, open fields of grass are perfect for adventures. In the summer, concerts are also held here. And a large splash pad nearby also runs during the summer months. There’s lots to do here at Heritage Park! And so much fun.
